Here are few commonly asked questions in case you still haven’t finalized your decision that a new sprinkler system would be the right move for you!

Q. Can I save water with a fully automatic Irrigation System?

A. Yes, An automatic sprinkler system will actually conserve water. With a sprinkler system you will never have to worry about runoff from over watering or about wasting water if you forget to turn off the hose. A moisture sensor can even be added to your system so it will know when it is raining and simply turn itself off when water is not needed.

Q. Can the system water all areas of my yard?

A. Yes, The system can be designed to water separate areas. This is called hydro-zoning. Applying different amounts of water based on plant needs.

Q. Will my drinking water be protected from the irrigation system?

A. Yes, The system designed and installed by St John's will use the latest devices required by local and State laws regarding backflow prevention.

Q. What is the best time to begin watering for the spring season?

A. The best time to begin watering for the spring season is before the night temperatures reach 60° F.  This will allow the correct the correct depth of moisture to be built up for the best growing environment.

Q. What, if any, are the current watering restrictions for El Paso?

A. The current restrictions are as follows: 

 - NO watering after 10:00 a.m. or before 6:00 p.m. on your designated watering day 

 - Even addresses can water on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays

 - Odd addresses can water on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays

 - There is no watering allowed on Mondays

Q. Is there a way to shut off or conserve water on days when it rains?

A. Yes - there are rain shut-off devices that are available and will prevent your system from watering during these times.  They are reasonably priced and easily installed and can actually measure the moisture in your soil to control your system automatically.

Q. How do I know when to "winterize" my system?

A. Temperatures below 20° F (during either the day or night) will require a winteriztion of your backflow preventor.  Also, after October 1st, you can water later in the day to prevent overspray from freezing and causing slipping hazards.
